Sacred Pond of Akliyath Temple located in the northwest corner outside the chutambalam is in the picture. It was renovated in 2004.
On the last day of the Vishu vilakk festival aaraat is performed for the presiding diety. Aaraat means divine bath. The main deity is brought to the pond by the chief priest. There is a platform at the water level prevailing in the pond then specially constructed for the purpose conducting the traditional poojas for the idol. After poojas the priest carrying the idol steps down from the platform and stand in neck deep of water. Immersing himself three times in the pond with the idol held securely in his hands he takes back to the sanctum sanctorum. Then the divine flag of the Lord is downed from dwajasthampam indicating the end of the festivities
